Silver, white, broad, bold New England, and other places too, but really New England. Small towns, rolling hills, apple blossoms, white blossoms in May, apples in August. Our neighbor had an apple orchard. The trees were small. We climbed them and sat among the white blossoms and looked out over the rolling hills. On our side of the dirt road our farm had only two apple trees, a Macintosh and a smaller Golden Delicious. I preferred Harry’s Apple Orchard across the road, more flowers in spring and more apples in fall.
