It’s January, it’s night, it’s dark, it’s cool and there unseen in the tree above is an owl hooting and in another tree beyond, another voice hoots back. This is a breeding pair.  Owls start early and normally remain together for life. The hootfest is a big deal, once the owl’s eggs are laid the pair quiet right down.  Sterling silver, body inset of ancient Walrus tusk.
